A True Canadian Adventure

Where Waterfalls, Canoes & the Canadian Wilderness Meet

150 Canadian dollars
Centre Touristique Gilles Gagnon

Description

Experience the North the way Canadians do. Your adventure begins at the iconic Hearst Tourist Information Centre beside the giant moose and wolves before we head deep into the wild landscapes of Northern Ontario. From Hearst, we travel approximately one hour through endless boreal forest to a hidden hiking destination along the beautiful Nagagami River. After a short forest hike, we arrive at a stunning waterfall tucked away in the wilderness — the perfect place to slow down, explore, take photos, and enjoy a true Canadian-style picnic lunch beside the rushing water. Our classic Northern picnic menu includes: Montreal smoked meat sandwiches Local cheese & summer sausage Ketchup chips Fresh maple cookies Traditional butter tarts Cedar tea or iced Labrador tea After lunch, we hike back out and continue another 30 minutes north toward one of the region’s best hidden gems: an unreal chain of crystal-clear turquoise lakes. Here, we launch the canoes and begin an easy but unforgettable paddle across Slim Lake, Trod Lake, and Young Lake. The lakes are connected by short 25-metre portages — in true Canadian fashion, the walk to the water is almost longer than the actual portages themselves. This experience is designed for people who want more than just sightseeing. It’s a full Northern adventure filled with hiking, canoeing, waterfalls, wilderness roads, turquoise water, hidden lakes, and authentic Canadian outdoor culture. Expect: Scenic Northern Ontario road travel A hidden waterfall hike A Canadian wilderness picnic Canoeing across turquoise lake chains Short portages between lakes Wildlife viewing opportunities Endless photo stops and Northern scenery By the end of the day, we return to the Hearst Tourist Information Centre tired, happy, and with the feeling of having truly experienced the Canadian wilderness.
