Fort Albany & Kashechewan Snowmobile Trip

Visit 4 communities along the James Bay cost. 5 days of snowmobiling in Ontario's Subarctic. Learn about Indigenous culture, meet amazing people, live new experiences and enjoy winter at its full potential.

Itineary:
First day
Meet at the Tim Horton's beside the Westway for 9am. Ride the A103. Have lunch at the Base Camp. Ride bush road & power lines to Onakawana Camp. Have dinner at Onakawana Camp.

Second day
Breakfast at the camp at 8am, leave by 9am. Ride power lines and the Moose River as well as the winter road on the second day. Go through Moose Factory and Moosonee. Have lunch in Moose Factory. (Fuel up)Sleep at CC's Bed & Rest Guesthouse in Kashechewan. Have dinner ....?

Third day
Have breakfast at CC's. (Fuel up) Visit both communities Kashechewan and Fort Albany as well as going out onto the bay. Get catering for lunch. Spend a night at Leona's camp learning about Indigenous culture, have a traditional souper and listen to stories.

Fourth day
Have breakfast at CC's. (Fuel up) Leave to go have lunch in Moose Factory. And head back up river to go stay at Onakawana. Have souper at the camp.
Fifth day
Have breakfast at Onakawana and head back to Cochrane. Have lunch in Smooth Rock.

Guides, towing, Safety: satellite phone, tarp, first aid kit, fire, dry clothes, spare food etc...
Accommodations, all meals, 5 gallons of gas, cultural experience
Needed:
Snowmobile (In good condition), 3 gallons of gas strapped to your snowmobile, personal effects, food and snacks, liquor for at the camp only, spare belt, spare Oil
FAQ​

If a snowmobile breaks down, one of our guides will pull you all the way to Moosonee. Train Arrangements will be made there to take back your snowmobile on the Polar Bear Express to Cochrane.

Riders experience: Advance. Long days. Has to be able to ride on trails, power lines, bush road, rivers (through slush).

If you're a smaller group, we will try to fill in the group to have 9 riders.​

All gas expenses are snowmobilers’ responsibility. Except 5 gallons.

20% deposit when booking. No reimbursement. Can book another year or try to sell spot. Balance due a few weeks before trip latest the night before the trip.

Dany Gratton
Dany started guiding in 2003 by offering his famous snowmobile tours to Moosonee. Dany is well known in is community to be the "coureur des bois". He has over 35 years of experience riding trail and off-trails. He likes to always have a safe trip with his friends or clients. He likes to show the beautiful wilderness of Northern Ontario.

Mylène Coulombe-Gratton
Mylène has been riding since she was born with her father. She did the Moosonee trip when she was 13. She can ride! Mylène went to work and to school by snowmobile as soon as she turns 12. She has been guiding with her father for 3 years and planning those trips for 5 years. With her experience, leader skills and knowledge, you will be in great hands.
